Engineering Idol 2024
Organizer: Etobicoke PEO
Engineering Idol directly reflects the theme of "there's a place for you in engineering" by providing a platform for high school students, regardless of background or experience, to engage in problem-solving and explore the engineering profession. By hosting this competition and reimbursing teams for their expenses the Etobicoke Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario makes it possible for all students regardless of socioeconomic means to participate. Furthermore by limiting teams to a strict budget the competition ensures all teams are on as equal a playing field as possible. This event not only promotes career awareness among young people but also encourages participation from underrepresented groups, fostering a more inclusive future for the engineering community. Specific to this year's competition's theme - AI in Medicine, teams have been tasked with designing AI systems that help improve patient outcomes and in turn help facilitate more equitable access to healthcare resources.
